William Spencer is a proudly queer and neurodivergent director, choreographer, and movement director. He trained at Bird College Conservatoire and was most recently part of the Young Vic’s Fresh Direction Cohort. His work has earned four Offie Award nominations—for [title of show], his narrative ballet Coppélia, Tinderella, and the critically acclaimed Grindr: The Opera, which he also directed.
William is dedicated to using dance and theatre as accessible art forms, reviving their historic role at the heart of storytelling. Having worked internationally as a performer, he now seeks to extend this reach as a creative, bringing high-quality theatre to all through the inclusive power of non-verbal communication. His work champions theatre as a universally moving and enjoyable experience, uniting audiences through relatable content.
Looking ahead, William is eager to deepen collaborations with students, artists, and creatives across the UK—from London’s conservatoires and fringe venues to its most prestigious West End stages.
